Le Seuil
Created in 1935, Editions du Seuil experienced a significant growth in 1945, thanks to a catalogue opened to all sectors of creation and knowledge. The literary field expanded as early as 1956 with the series “Ecrire”. In 1959, André Schwarz-Bart received the publishing company’s first Goncourt Prize. Le literary series “Cadre rouge” is marked by Patrick Grainville, Louis Gardel, Elie Wiesel, Erik Orsenna, Andreï Makine. As to the series “Fiction & Cie” it entwines genres with Olivier Rolin, Lydie Salvayre, Antoine Volodine. A strong Francophone lineage sets Editions du Seuil apart, with Mouloud Feraoun, Kateb Yacine, Aimé Césaire, Léopold Sédar Senghor, Anne Hébert, Jacques Godbout, Nelly Arcan, Alain Mabanckou. The foreign literature series, “Cadre vert”, occupies a central part with works by Günter Grass, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Carlo Emilio Gadda, John Updike, William Boyd, John Irving, John Michael Coetzee, José Saramago, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Elfriede Jelinek.
