2026 TIBE Concluded with 580,000 Visits and 1,853 Rights Meetings

2026/02/11

The 2026 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) concluded successfully on February 8, 2026, welcoming a total of 580,000 visits over six days. The exhibition once again demonstrated its role as a major platform for international exchange, professional rights trading, and nationwide reading promotion.

A total of 1,853 rights meetings were conducted during the exhibition, reflecting strong momentum in cross-border copyright exchange and publishing collaboration.

This year’s edition brought together participants from 29 countries and 509 publishers (268 domestic and 241 international), with 748 international publishing professionals in attendance. Across the six-day program, 1,301 events were held, featuring 1,467 speakers from Taiwan and abroad — both record highs.

As Guest of Honor, Thailand presented the themed program “CreaTHAIvity,” bringing 18 Thai authors and 125 publishing professionals to Taipei. The delegation organized more than 45 events and actively engaged in rights discussions and international networking, contributing significantly to professional exchange throughout the fair.

Rex How, Chairman of the Taipei Book Fair Foundation, noted that overall attendance increased compared to the previous year, and many publishers reported improved sales performance. Government initiatives — including expanded Cultural Voucher policies and full ticket rebate mechanisms — effectively encouraged youth participation and purchasing, while reinforcing a positive cycle between policy support, industry effort, and reader engagement.

At the closing ceremony, David Steinke, Representative of the Czech Economic and Cultural Office, announced that Czechia will serve as Guest of Honor for 2027, marking the next chapter of literary and cultural exchange between Taiwan and Europe.

By integrating international dialogue, rights trading, and large-scale public participation, the 2026 Taipei International Book Exhibition further consolidated its position as one of Asia’s leading publishing events.
