From this year on, TIBE has been held annually from bi-annually, and the time moved to February. Several innovations were introduced to the exhibition, including:

Establishment of National Pavilion
Germany was invited as the special guest at the opening; the German Pavilion included a comprehensive introduction of German culture, history, tradition, customs and the publishing industry. 

Production of CD-Rom/Internet Service
Before and after the exhibition, all related information was released through international websites. A CD-ROM containing the information of Taiwan 's publishing industry, copyright trading, introduction of the exhibition and index of exhibitors was released.

Theater Center (Meeting Time)
At the center of the exhibition hall, besides the grand opening, performances, seminars and speeches were scheduled everyday.

Report of Taiwan 's Publishing Market
Collaborated with a market survey company to compile a complete analysis report on the operation of the publishing industry, book flows of bookstores and the domestic book shopping and reading habits.

 

Content of Exhibition

•  German Pavilion:
Over 200 German publishers provided more than 1500 books focus on three aspects, ‘children and youth books,' ‘women literature' and ‘art.' The pavilion also showcased the oldest printer, the largest and smallest books.

•  Cultural Information Hall:
The hall introduced readers into a new reading era by showcasing the latest multi-media and information application system.

•  Colorful World of Fairy Tales

•  Golden Tripod Award Hall

•  Translation of Taiwan Modern Literature Exhibition: The National Culture Council has pushed forward the translation of Chinese books for over 20 years. This exhibition introduced the context and development of Taiwanese literature to international and domestic publishers and professional by showcasing the translation of domestic writers in 3 generations and their portraits.
