Présence africaine

In 1949, two years after creating the journal Présence Africaine, Alioune Diop founded the publishing house of the same name. The objective is to provide thinkers, writers and researchers from Africa and the diaspora with a creative space and a sounding board allowing their literary and scientific productions to experience better conditions of dissemination and accessibility through the world. The two entities, magazine and publishing house, will work in symbiosis to serve this project, supported by the association created after the First International Congress of Black Writers and Artists, the African Culture Society (SAC). Renamed the African Cultural Community (CAC), it is today chaired by the Nobel Prize winner for literature, Wole Soyinka.
