AI – Good and Bad in the Publishing Industry

Artificial Intelligence is probably the most-discussed topic in our industry right now. It offers efficiency, improved content recommendations, facilitates research, writing and lots of processes while at the same time it helps us in bringing our products to new target groups and new markets. However, there are also many concerns about creativity, data privacy, and copyright protection, just to mention a few. The speaker will provide an outlook on what AI can do for publishers and will outline its limitations. The speaker will also share examples and experiences.

Futuretalk: How to attract young readers

In the digital age and also in a time which offers a world of entertainment, captivating (especially) young readers, is a challenge that requires passion and creativity and also adapting to their evolving preferences. To attract them, it is of utmost importance to create diverse and relatable content across all genres and to embrace new technologies, i.e. make the content available on e -books and interactive apps, work with Augmented Reality, for instance. Our Speaker will show us different examples of how to successfully attract the young generation with new and old content but new ideas, strategies and technologies so that new and old content will find its way to the ears and eyes of young readers and that this generation continues to find interest and value in the world of books.

Marketing / New Social Media and New Channels

In the ever-changing world of book marketing, embracing new social media platforms and emerging channels is essential. It is important to constantly watch out for new developments while at the same time preparing content for book marketing for the different channels. How must a publishing company organise itself to be able to meet these challenges? What strategies exist if different products for different target groups are being promoted on Social Media channels? How do we use Instagram as opposed to TikTok? What has proved to be successful and what do we need to take into consideration? How can we save on these quite labour and cost intensive projects? Our speaker will take us into her world and share success stories as well as failures in her endeavors to create multimedia content, to leverage e-commerce and virtual book events.

Webtoons and Games in Publishing

One of the most hip and popular genres for the young generation are webtoons, games and video content. In this session we want to explore what it is that makes webtoons so attractive and how publishers can leverage this type of content, and develop it further. Apart from that it is also video content and video games that capture young people`s attentions, but – as we all know – can also disrupt social networks and environments. We will hear about new trends in gaming and will explore how publishers can leverage games and video content to attend to their old or new target audiences and expand storytelling horizons – and we are talking about young people mostly. We will also touch upon games for aging societies.
