Taipei International Book Exhibition is an international book fair with multiple functions. The major tasks are to develop international exchanges, to elevate various functions of publishing, and to stimulate the reading culture of the general public. By attending TIBE, you will not only meet experienced publishers, booksellers, literary agents, distributors and retailers, but also dynamic counterparts from other Asia-Pacific countries such Japan, Korean and Hong Kong. Annually, there were about 320,000 entries including international visitors attended TIBE, therefore, it is no doubt to say that TIBE is the showcase for books from Asian countries, and it is also a way to generalize your country culture in Asia!
Taiwanese publishers are speaking two languages. First of all, with the Chinese language as our spoken language, publishers know how to deal with the ever-growing Greater Chinese-Language Publishing World, including Mainland China and Hong Kong. Secondly, Taiwanese publishers speak the same publishing language as every publisher does in any free and open market. Publishers in Taiwan know the ways of thinking, rules, and habits of the international publishing community.
TIBE offers you an open window to look into the greater Chinese-language Markets!
The fair was better than I expected... ...By attending the fair, I discovered how many books are being published there, both "light" and "heavy," and how beautiful their designs are. It became quickly apparent that publishing, distribution, the content and design of the books themselves -- all aspects of the industry -- are flourishing far more than I had imagined... ...Here's something else that impressed me: the producers of the fair solicited books from various East Asian publishing markets, about 30 titles from each locale that the publishers deemed noteworthy -- particularly from a design standpoint.

The focal country at the TIBE was Korea, which will also be Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2005. The German contribution to the program of events met with great interest, with talks on the opportunities for German publishing companies to enter the market in Asia and on the children’s book market in Germany. The events were attended by 60 and 40 publishers respectively and there were lively question-and-answer sessions.

A book fair represents a city’s image and culture; Taipei International Book Exhibition is one of this kind. I was very impressed to the quality and quantity of books in TIBE. Also, there are so many publishers and publishing houses in Taiwan, which is out of my imagination. I used to connect my thoughts with readers via books; now, TIBE provides me a stage to address a speech, and communicate with my readers face to face. I am glad to participate TIBE.

I was deeply impressed with the work of the Taipei Book Fair Foundation and the Government Information Office for the TIBE 2005 and really enjoyed the company with the VIPs. As a collaborating partner, KPA will assist what ever we can do for the TIBE.
