Markus Zusak

Born in Sydney in 1975, Markus Zusak is the most productive and influential contemporary Australian novelist. He has won several honors ranging from literary prizes to reader choice awards. Zusak is the author of the international bestseller The Book Thief, and I Am the Messenger (both published by Ecus Publishing House in Taiwan). In his much-anticipated new novel Bridge of Clay, he craves to lead his readers to feel the vigorousness and power of words. "As a writer, you are always warm-up for your upcoming works." This is Zusak's philosophy of writing, and we can anticipate Zusak to transcend himself in his next novels.

William L. Yarber

William L. Yarber is a senior research fellow at The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction and the senior director of the Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention at Indiana University, Bloomington. He is also professor of applied health science and professor of gender studies at IU. At the request of the U.S. government, Dr. Yarber authored the country’s first secondary school AIDS prevention education curriculum, AIDS: What Young People Should Know (1987).

Manuel Marsol

Manuel Marsol, who grew up in Madrid, has degrees in Advertising and Audiovisual Communication, and a postgraduate diploma in Children’s Book Illustration. He has featured in the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition for four times, and won the International Prize for Illustration Bologna Children’s Book Fair – Fundación SM 2017. He also won the V Catálogo Iberoamericano de Ilustración, and his first picture book Ahab y la Ballena Blanca (Ahab and the White Whale) was honored by the Edelvives International Picture Book Award.

 

Ichiro Kishimi

Ichiro Kishimi was born in Kyoto, where he currently resides. He writes and lectures on Alderian psychology and provides counseling for youths in psychiatric clinics as a certified counselor and consultant for the Japanese Society of Adlerian Psychology. He is the translator, into Japanese, of selected writings by Alfred Adler—The Science of Living and Problems of Neurosis—and he is the author of Introduction to Adlerian Psychology, in addition to numerous other books.

Toshikazu Kawaguchi

Mr. Kawaguchi, was born in 1971, Osaka, Japan. He was a playwright and a director of the theatrical troupe- Sonic Snail, and has many representative works including Couple, Sunset Song, and Family Time. The original play of the book Before the Coffee Gets Cold was performed by 1110 Produce, and received the 10th Suginami Drama Festival grand prize. The book was also nominated for 2017 Japan Booksellers’ Award.

Haruhiko Shiratori

Born in Aomori Japan. Writer, interpreter and commentator. He majored in German at Dokkyo University, and went on to study philosophy, theology, and literature at Freie Universität Berlin. He has published a number of works on philosophy and religious issues, such as Strengthen Your Mind, Philosophy for Life, and Nietzsche’s Words. Among his notable works, the book Nietzsche’s Words became the million bestseller in 2012. Through his simple yet uncompromising writing style, his works have won the hearts of many readers.

Ambiru Yasuko

Ms. Ambiru Yasuko was born in Gunma Ken, Japan and graduated from Tokai University, majoring in Japanese Literature. She worked as an art designer in the cartoon program Honey Pea Princess in Fuji Television Network. Now she is working as a toy designer. Her main works are Where is the Baby who Loves to be Hugged?, The Witch’s Magic House, Woods in the Little Island series, The Witch’s Magic Store series.

Yutaka Hara

Yutaka Hara was born in Kumamoto in 1953. In 1974, he won the children book section of Kodansha KFC Contest. His representative work Incredible Zorori has 58 volumes published and has sold a total of 35 million copies. The blockbuster series was made into TV anime series and animation films. The author’s other works include: Puka Puka Chocolate-To series, Ishishi & Noshishi’s Henteko-banashi series, and Zack's Fushigina Taiken Note.


 

 

Kaoru Fukaya

Kaoru Fukaya is a manga artist from Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Her best-known works include Northeast of Eden, She's A Steely Woman!, and Kanna-sa-n! She began releasing her series Yomawari Neko (Night Patrol Cat) through Twitter in October 2015. The warm, comforting, and humorous series quickly won the love of online readers everywhere. The series was collected in four volumes and published by Kodansha, winning the Short Work Prize in the 21st Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and the Manga Prize at the 5th BookLog Prize, both in 2017. Yomawari Neko is published in Traditional Chinese by Locus Publishing.

古屋兔丸

Over 20 years since his debut, Usamaru Furuya is now one of the most iconic Japanese subculture manga artists. He is known for his dark style, philosophical stories, and diverse artistic techniques.

 

Akira Higashiyama

Born in Taiwan in 1968, lived in Taipei before the age of 5, and later moved to Japan at the age of 9, Akira Higashiyama currently resides in the prefecture of Fukuoka. The last name of his pen-name "Higashiyama" (東山) is a tribute to his ancestral hometown of "Shan-dong" (山東), whereas the word "Aki" (彰) of his first name is a tribute to Changhua Senior High School (彰化中學) where his mother taught. He made his debut in the Japanese literature society with suspense novels and even wrote the script for the movie edition of Naruto. He won the Naoki Prize, the highest honor in the Japanese literary world, in 2015 with Ryu, a novel that depicts the real life stories of his father, making him the third Taiwanese author who had won the Naoki Prize, after Qiu-yong Han and Shun-chen Chen.

張嘉佳

Zhang Jiajia graduated from Nanjing University. I Belonged to You is a collection of short fictions, the series of Bedtime Stories. Keyi Sheng

Sheng Keyi was born in Hunan province in the 1970s and has lived in Shenzhen and Beijing. She is the author of 10 novels, including Northern Girls, Death Fugue, Wild Fruit, The Metaphor Detox Centre, The Womb, and Paradise, as well as many other short stories and novellas. Her work has been translated into a number of foreign languages and published all over the world. She has received numerous literary awards, and was nominated for Man Asian Literary Prize in 2012. Her works depict the social realities of the underprivileged through female voices, while also exposing the bleak yet carnivalesque nature of both history and reality.

Kai Cheung Dung

A Chinese fiction writer born in Hong Kong in 1967. He received his B.A. and M. Phil. in comparative literature from the University of Hong Kong. He is an author, journalist, playwright and essayist. He works at a part-time lecturer at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and mainly teaches Chinese writing. His most important novels include "Atlas", "Histories of Time" and other award-winning books. Different from other local Chinese writers, Dung translates his own work into English versions.

Iris is known for her debut The Princess Series since its publication in 2011 and quickly gained recognition as a bestselling light novelist. Jozev

Jozev (Lau Wai Ming) is a Hong Kong novelist with nearly 40 books published since 1996. In the years he has been exploring various genres of fiction including fantasy (Journal of the Vampire Hunter), alternate history (Karma) and detective story (The Block). He started his most well-known work Sangre y Acero, a traditional Chinese Wuxia series in 2008, which has since become a bestseller in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Its comic adaption Blood & Steel is also a hit and has produced various overseas versions including French, Thai and Indonesian.
