The Czech Republic is a small country located “in the heart of Europe” well known for its book writers and illustrators. The popularity of Czech books has reached far beyond its borders. The shelves of bookstores are now full of new and interesting works from the pens of Czech writers. Also children’s illustration had a great tradition in former Czechoslovakia, dating from Mikoláš Aleš to Jiří Trnka, Adolf Born or Zdeněk Miler, the author of the legendary Krteček (Little Mole).
