Czech illustrator. Born in 1963, Řízek kicked off his illustration career with the commission of a children's encyclopedia. He has thus far drawn over 50 children's books to acquaint children with science, technology, the arts, film, fairytales, and legends. The discovery of Asian cultures and his travels in China and Taiwan fascinated him and influenced his painting. His most recent paintings abound with the bright, lively, radiant colors typical of Asian cultures. Through Řízek's personal interpretation of a work of literature, his illustrations become a means of discovering the world as a whole.
