Guest of Honor: France, Fête for the world’s significant writers
The 18th Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) will be held from 27 Jan. to 1 Feb. 2010 in Taipei World Trade Center, Taiwan. As one of the worldwide leading countries in the field of culture, arts and publishing industry France will be the Guest of Honor at TIBE 2010 to present the hottest topics, actual book programs and cultural agenda at this coming fair in Taipei, such like the books of new lifestyle with molecular cuisine, the exhibition of French picture books and manuscript exhibition of French writers. Muriel Barbery, known as the writer of French bestseller, ‘L'Elegance du herisson’, and the winner of Prix Renaudot of the year 2003, Philippe Claudel, will attend this most significant and biggest culture fête in Taiwan and plan the events with readers in Taiwan. Ha Jin, the famous contemporary Chinese-American writer and the winner of American National Book Award, Dr. Sherwin Nuland, will also hold their own new book premiere at TIBE 2010. Moreover, more than 10 Chinese writers from all over the world will be also present at fair.
Sponsored by Government Information Office and organized by Taipei Book Fair Foundation, the whole fair of TIBE 2010 consists of 3 exhibition halls. The visitors could enjoy the happiness of reading and the beauty of fine organized exhibition in the French Pavilion/ Pavilion for the Guest of Honor, in the zones for general books from domestic and international publishers, digital publications, government publications and movie pavilion. The publications for comics and animation with interesting public events will be exhibited and presented in hall 2. Hall 3 is the exhibition area for children’s book. More than 300 exciting and attractive events will be presented during the whole TIBE 2010.
The opening day, 27 January 2010, is traditionally the day for the professionals at TIBE 2010, the hall 1 will be opened only for the worldwide professionals, while the hall 2 and hall 3 are welcome for all visitors during the whole fair. On the “Star Night”, 29 and 30 January, the whole fair will be opened until 22 pm. This is the most important moment for all international visitors and book lovers to enjoy Taiwan’s exquisite culture achievement of the year.
